About Muriel Turner
Muriel Turner is the sole trader of Huachuma Consultancy. She was born in Sydney, Australia, and since the mid 1990’s has travelled extensively with, and been trained by a Shaman and Ceremonial Leader of the Huachuma Tradition of Shamanism in the Andes of northern Peru.
In recent years, Muriel has attended several healing ceremonies and conferences in Peru, where international speakers presented their research and findings on the healing benefits of traditional medicines [such as Ayahuasca and San Pedro]. The healing plants have played important roles across history and cross-culturally, and are generally used for spiritual, physical, emotional and psychological healing experiences.
With a degree in Psychology, Muriel has worked in government and non-government mental health and employment services, is a long standing member of the Australian Psychological Society [APS], and has gained permission to be a healer and conduct workshops, retreats and ceremonies in the West.
See Muriel talking about her recent experience with Ayahuasca on youtube:
Muriel’s passion is to guide people in finding well-being and meaning to their lives. She believes she is now able to do the “real work” with people, organising transformational gatherings, workshops and retreats in Australia. Muriel also provides tours to Peru and Bolivia, which include healing ceremonies with genuine masters of traditional medicines.
Because of the interconnectedness of everyone and everything, as human beings help to heal Pachamama we will begin to heal our-self. If we work on our-self we heal others. We come back to living in the moment, to living simply each day, connected to Pachamama, breathing with Pachamama as one breath, moving in rhythm to Pachamama’s pulsating heartbeat, sharing Her secrets with Her other children, the birds, animals, plants, and the spirits of all things.
How do we do this? In the workshops, retreats, ceremonies and journeys, we explore practical ways of communing with Nature, through:
- Discussions about the Huachuma tradition of Shamanism
- Breathing meditations – saying ‘yes’ to life
- Icaros [songs of power]: song of the Snake, Song of the Moon
- Visiting places of power for ceremonies and rituals: how can we live in a more balanced environment
-
Working on our physical body: discussing diet, ancient postures, stimulating the glands and energy points, and movement
-
Dreams and self-understanding, intention versus willpower ents to energise the body
-
The four elements or directions and the purpose of the Mesa: how do they relate to our daily life?
-
The Dance of the Universe as a celebration of life and a demonstration of our intention
